Supporting the creation and development of local enterprise


The 35 Enterprise Boards were established in Ireland in 1993 to provide support for small businesses and micro-enterprises with 10 employees or less, at local level.


The Enterprise Boards provide direct grant-support to new and existing enterprises and promote entrepreneurship, capacity building and women-in-business at local level, to micro enterprises in the commercial sphere. Each Board is uniquely positioned to understand local needs and know the background and track record of those applying for support and assistance.


The Enterprise Boards support both new and established businesses include Advice, Mentoring, Grants, Supports for Training and Growth.

Representing the Local Enterprise Agency Network


Enterprise Northern Ireland is the organisation representing the network of Local Enterprise Agencies in Northern Ireland. Local Enterprise Agencies (LEAs) are independent, locally based not-for-profit companies set up to support small business development and to undertake economic development activity.


Enterprise Northern Ireland has 32 member agencies, with coverage across all local council areas in Northern Ireland.
